1995
The 'Great Trails' Series

Frank drove up to New England in the summer of 1995 to see Peter Crane at the
Mount Washington Observatory to show him the new 'North South' shirt. This was the first
real test of our non-corporate lifestyle change and Frank wanted to climb Mount Washington for
the very first time. It was June 15th, and by the time he got to the top, the
temperature had plummeted to 36 F with 50 mph winds and driving rain.
After an hour or two in the 'backpackers sanctuary room' (the place
where hikers can hide and recover without scaring the tourists),
Frank met with Peter and the entire course of our business
changed. Peter had this idea for a shirt. He wanted a shirt
with a topographic map and a list of popular hiking
trails. We listened to him, and we have been listening to
our customers ever since.

We offer almost 50 'Great Trails' shirts now,
from Dolly Sods to Mount Rainier, Shenandoah to
