If you haven’t yet wandered through the awe-inspiring Redwoods National Forest, it’s time to plan your visit. And when you do go, don’t forget to grab some of our Redwood-themed apparel, designed to keep you cool and dry as you explore these ancient forests.
The Legendary Trees
The park’s oldest redwood is a favorite photo spot, standing tall for an estimated 2,500 years, that’s right, it was a seedling during the Roman Empire and a sapling in the Mayan Golden Age!
Redwoods boast bark up to a foot thick, shielding them from wildfires, fungus, and pests. Some species have been around for about 240 million years, making them living fossils.
The tallest tree in the world, named Hyperion, towers at an astonishing 380 feet (115 meters) and is estimated to be 600–800 years old. Its exact location remains a closely guarded secret to protect it from damage, only a handful of UNESCO scientists know where to find this towering treasure.
Stunning Coastlines
Redwoods National Park stretches nearly 40 miles along the Pacific Coast, encompassing mountains and serene shorelines. Take peaceful walks by the water and keep an eye out for unique lighthouses dotting the coastline.
Visiting between November and April offers a special treat: the chance to witness
migrating gray whales. Just don’t forget your binoculars!
